Who, What, When, Where and Why

Hello, my name is Jim Casler and welcome.  I've started a blog!

I’m a goof.  I live in Traverse City, MI with my wife and two kids.  I’m a little overweight, crack jokes and have gray hair.  Oh yeah, I also help family farm owners enhance their family’s well-being and the financial health of their business in the areas of business planning, financial management, succession planning and real estate.  I am based in Michigan and serve clients throughout the United States with a small team of advisors with over 106 years combined experience.

That’s me…and my family.

It’s obvious you didn’t come here to read about Jim Casler, but just in case you did, here's a link.  You are here to gain something from this experience.  The purpose of this blog/newsletter (why) is to share ideas and information in a way that you can easily understand and find useful as you navigate business planning, financial management and succession planning for your family farm business or family-owned business  …and to do so as quickly as possible.    750 words or less will be my guidepost.

I will be sharing business adventures, ideas and information gathered during day-to-day activities.  The intent is to help you avoid the many common pitfalls that others have unfortunately experienced.  The content will be specific enough to at least help point you in the right direction and get you started or to help you continue along your way. HOWEVER, info should not be relied upon for you because everyone has a unique set of circumstances…including you!  (who)

Regardless, your time is precious and I know that you will afford me 1 minute or less before you decide whether you will stay or leave.  I promise to try and:
  • Provide you with something novel or unexpected
  • Provide you with helpful content
  • Earn your trust
  • Speak to you on a human level
  • Make it easy for you to read
  • Provide you with complete information
  • Fulfill your expectations with consistent content

My initial plan is to make an entry once a week, maybe over the weekend and have it published by noon on Saturday (when).  Once in a while I may just post a nice picture, a link to something funny or a motivational or inspirational quote of some sort.  Let me know what works and what doesn’t.

Occasionally there will be guest entries and links to other material that I hope you find useful.  I am planning to share client success stories, personal experiences, have a little fun along the way and maybe, just maybe…put a smile on your face.

I am sure some things will change along the way and much of that change will hopefully come about from your feedback.  Feel free to leave as much feedback as possible.  I encourage it!

You are the reason for this blog.  Your thoughts, comments and participation will help make this better.  There are several ways to contact me (where):

This is a family friendly environment and while all feedback is welcome, content will be reviewed before it gets posted.  This is not done in an effort to censor anyone, but rather to keep standards high and communication civil.

It is my sincere hope to develop business friendships with many of you over the years.  Now you know a little about Jim Casler and why this blog has been created.

Cheers!

Jim
